Back many moons ago, Saturday April 28 to be exact, a few members of our troop went down to Peters Lake Park to clean it up. The Moshiers went down early and cleaned up the smaller lake on the left. Then Mr. Burke, Trevor, Dylan, Ryan, Brad, Cory, and myself all showed up and started around the lake. It was much cleaner than we expected. Apparently people have been taking better care of the lake since its recent renovation. After we collected our few bags of trash, we all met up again and disposed of it. It may not have been a lot, but it was our contribution to the lake. Now Mr. Englund won't have to dodge pop cans while kayaking around the lake.

Summer camp - Words from our beloved Scoutmaster

Summer camp is living in the woods for a week. Summer camp is swimming, rowing, canoeing, snorkeling and sailing on a lake. Summer camp is cooking your own meals and achieving a degree of independence. Summer camp is enjoying a campfire and challenging Mr. Grosso to an arm wrestling contest. Summer camp is working on merit badges and learning crafts and skills. Summer camp is a blast.

Summer camp at Heritage Reservation with Troop 1320 is all of these things and more. It is an important step in the scouting program which fosters independence and leadership skills in boys as they mature into young men.

We are fortunate to have a facility like Heritage Reservation available to us, as it is one of the premier scout camp facilities in the country. All of the scouts are strongly encouraged to attend summer camp this year, which is the week of August 5, 2001. I very much believe that attendance at summer camp is extremely important in achieving many of the benefits which scouting has to offer.

IT IS STILL NOT TOO LATE TO RESERVE A SPOT FOR SUMMER CAMP THIS YEAR AND THERE ARE SPACES AVAILABLE FOR MEMBERS OF THE TROOP WHO HAVE NOT YET SIGNED UP.  The cost of summer camp is $155.00 for the week and if any parent has any concern with the cost of camp a campership may be available.

The fun that will be missed by not going to camp is great as is the opportunity for advancement, achievement and development. Parents and scouts don't let this opportunity pass.
